Operator History

Servicios Especiales Aereos - SEA for short - was founded in the late 1950's by Captain Luis Carlos Herrera. It operated mainly domestic cargo flights to cities in Eastern Colombia: Arauca, Tame, Cucuta and later Leticia. The fleet was composed of Commandos and three Fairchild C-82 Packets. International charters were also conducted to Ecuador, Jamaica and Miami, FL. The crash of one of its C-82s on 20 December 1961, followed by the fatal accident of Commando HK-613 on 4 October 1965, both in Cucuta, were severe blows to SEA. The company nonetheless seems to have continued operating until at least 1971.
