Operator History

Arrow Airways was founded in 1947 by George Batchelor, serving the state of California wih a small fleet of DC3's operating passenger and cargo charter flights. Dissatisfied with the air charter regulatory environment, which discouraged competition, Batchelor closed Arrow Airways down in 1953.

The company was eventually relaunched as Arrow Air in 1984, from Miami, FL where Batchelor had moved to. It became one of the main air cargo players on the Latin American market, with a large fleet on Douglas DC8's & DC10's, Boeing 707's & 727's and Lockheed Tristars. The company ceased operations on 30 June 2010.
