In 1946 David Thurston established The Colonial Aircraft Corporation was founded in 1946 by David Thurston to build and market a light amphibian aircraft he designed: the C-1 Skimmer. The design evolved into the more powerful, four-seater C-2, which eventually became the Lake Buccaneer.
