Operator History

Quaker City Airways was founded in September 1948 and started operations from Burbank, CA in January 1949. It mainly used Beech 18s and Boeing 307 Stratoliners, operating both from Burbank and from a secondary base in Philadelphia, PA. In 1950, it flew 625,619 evenue passenger miles and 366,737 cargo ton miles, ensuring a gross revenue of $79,577. By 1958, the airline's best year, traffic had grown to 3,258,000 revenue passenger miles.

From September 1959, the airline did business as Admiral Airlines. Quaker was later found by the Civil Aeronautics Board to be conducting unapproved combine operations and its AOC was revoked in 1962.
