Assigned to the 3rd Ferrying Group, 74th Ferrying Squadron based at Romulus AAF, MI.

28 May 1943

Damaged beyond repair near Guffey, CO in a CFIT (2/2 fatalities).

The Commando was being ferried from Lincoln AAF, NE. As it entered the Rockies, it hit the slope of Black Mountain located some 20km west of Guffey, CO at an altitude of 8,500 feet. The two pilots were asleep with the airplane on automatic pilot at the time of the accident, and they were both killed.
