Commando Operations

Shingbwiyang was a temporary airfield bordering the Ledo road, only 50 km inside Burma. Its 900-meter runway was carved out of the jungle in 1944 for use by USAAF during the offensive in Burma. It was served by several air transport units to support ground troops advancing on the Japanese, and it was even home to the 2nd Troop Carrier Squadron's C-47 Skytrains in late 1944.

The airfield is now abandoned.
