Commando Operations

Barrackpore is a military airfield located in the town of Barrackpore, just to the north of Kolkata. Originally a Royal Air Force station, it was also used by several USAAF units during World War II, including a Lockheed F-5 Lightning photo reconnaissance squadron and the Air Transport Command. After the partition of India in 1947, the station was turned over to the Indian Air Force, which keeps on operating it to this day.
