Commando Operations
In 1929, the city of Ontario purchased 30 acres of land for $12,000 and established the Ontario Municipal Airport.
New runways ware built in 1941, and the USAAF started operations at the airfield on 27 February 1942. Ontario AAF was a fighter training base for the duration of the war. Starting in 1945, Ontario AAF became a major RFC facility where many Commandos were stored after World War II.
