Commando Operations

During World War II, Wold-Chamberlain Field served as a major base for the Air Transport Command's Alaskan Wing. The airfield was used as one of two staging bases (along with Gore Field, later Great Falls AAB, MT) where materiel was gathered before being flown to the Wing's hub at RCAF Edmonton, AB, Canada.
