Operator History
Charqueada Santa Maria do Araguaia was a slaughterhouse based in Araguacema, in the Tocantins state of Brazil. An airfield was built there in 1947 on the initiative of businessman Oscar Steiner, who engaged in the carriage of beef to Belem. After the crash of his Commando PP-DKF on 5 May 1949 killed Salomao Solino, the owner of the slaughterhouse, it seems that the slaughterhouse subsequently purchased its own aircraft to carry the meat to various urban centers of the Brazilian Amazon.
Commando Operations
May 1957* to July 1968*
Charqueada operated 2 Commandos registered as private aircraft. It also briefly operated a third Commando leased from TAN.
