Operator History

TABA (Transportes Aereos da Bacia Amazonica) was founded in 1945 by Alberto Martins Torres, a former Brazilian Air Force pilot. Its aim was to carry rubber to Belem. However, as the post-war market for rubber changed and prices dropped radically, that business model became unviable. As a result, TABA changed its focus to the Rio de Janeiro - Porto Alegre route and it rebranded itself as TABA (Transportes Aereos Bandeirantes) in 1947.
