Operator History

TACA was founded in 1931 in Honduras by New Zealander Lowell Yerex. The concept behind it was to establish one airline in each Latin-American country. In 1945, when Yerex left the company, TACA moved to El Salvador. The Honduran subsidiary continued to operate as TACA de Honduras, but eventually it was acquired by rival airline SAHSA in 1953.
