Operator History
Lane Xang Airlines was named after the ancient Lao kingdom of Lane Xang. It seems to have operated a subsidiary in Cambodia under the name CAI (Cambodia Airlines International) - or CAI may have been another airline that wet-leased Lane Xang aircraft. Lane Xang operated DC3s in Laos, and a Commando and a Viscount for CAI. The airline operated in troubled times, as Cambodia was ruled by the Khmer Rouge and while Laos was in the midst of a civil war that saw the Communists take power in 1975. The latter regime change might have precipitated the company's closure.
Commando Operations
1972 to December 1974
Lane Xang operated a single Commando, which ended up crashing in the Cambodian jungle.
