Operator History

AVISPA was founded on 1 November 1951 as the first Panamanian international cargo carrier. It started operations with a single Commando, rented from Colombia to transport shrimps from Panama to Miami. Its founding shareholders were Víctor Inchausti and Heraclio Barletta B. The Board of Directors was composed of Carlos A. De la Guardia, Eloy Benedetti and Rodrigo Arosemena. The CEO was George Monteiro.

AVISPA was renamed APA (Aerovias Panama Airways) in 1956 and APASA (Aerovias Panama SA) in 1965. It closed down in 1966.
