Kris Air was founded at Seletar AB, Singapore in August 1977 by Australian businessmen (Daniel T. Cooley?), who took over Tri-9 Airlines operation with the financial backing of Chinese businessmen in Singapore. The operation was taken over by Air Tenggara on 28 May 1981.

September 1977* to early 1980's*

Kris Air operated several Commandos formerly leased by Tri-9 Airlines from AMCO Air International. All of them were later sold to Max E. Moore.

In the early 1980's, another Commando was wet-leased from OASIS of the Philippines in order to conduct oil drill support and humanitarian supply flights between Singapore and various destinations in Southeast Asia.
