In 1949, the CAB filed criminal charges against Standard for violating the non-scheduled doctrine and flying more frequently than permitted. After the dramatic accident of Commando N79978 which killed 35 in Burbank, CA on 12 July 1949, Standard ran into trouble and merged with Viking Air Lines in January 1950, forming the North American Airlines Agency.
