All American Airways / Saturn Airways
Operator History
All American Airways was a passenger and cargo charter airline founded by Robert C. Goodman in 1948, and starting operations using a small fleet of Commandos. Its name was changed in 1959 to Saturn Airways, and Douglas DC6Cs joined the fleet, along with DC7Cs from 1963. Saturn purchased AAXICO in 1965, and some of the assets of defunct Universal Airlines in 1972, while part of its stock was made public - the majority of which remained owned by Goodman. Douglas DC8s were added from late 1967, and US military contracts took an increasing share of Saturn's business with flights to Vietnam.
Satrun merged into Trans International Airlines, which later became the largest supplemental US carrier as Transamerica Airlines.
