Operator History

Clarks Aerial Service was a large agricultural flying outfit based in Texas. It was established in the 1950's by Lonnie D. Clark, and operated out of Terry County airport in Brownfield, TX. The outfit flew a variety of aircraft including Stearmans, Texans, Venturas and Harpoons on aerial spreading, dusting and seeding contracts. Heavy aircraft were introduced in the 1960's with the Lockheeds fitted with a liquid or granular chemical hopper in the cabin with dump door or spreader gear through the bomb bay. The manager at that time was Wayne C. Hill.

Clarks went bankrupt in October 1977, and its assets were taken over by Brownfield Aerial Inc. located nextdoor on the same airfield.
