Operator History
Conner Air Lines was a non-scheduled airline founded in 1948 by Francis Augustus "Gus" Conner.
As a pionneer in using civilian aircraft for military supply flights under government contracts, Conner Air Lines expanded quickly from a small Carribean outfit to a worldwide operation. It operated many propliner types throughout the years, including Commandos, Douglas DC-6s, and it ultimately moved on to the Douglas DC-8. Conner Air Lines was involved in several CIA operations, notably the support of the Contra rebels in Nicaragua in the 1980's.
Under strict FAA scrutiny for years, Conner was finally grounded on 1 September 1992 on safety grounds, never to fly again.
