Operator History

Intramar was an import & export company belonging to Ernest R. Binder and Ernest Seller, and most likely engaged mostly in maritime freight shipping and forwarding. Intramar actually consisted in four distinct entities: Intramar Shipping Corporation, Intramar Agency & Intramar Transport of New York, NY, and Intramar Shipping, a subsidiary headquartered in Colombia.

It seems that Intramar engaged in air freight from the late 1940's to the late 1960's, partly in partnership with Southern Air Transport. A New York to Bogota air freight line was opened without the proper authrorization, and the CAB requested on 31 October 1958 that the line be closed.

In 1969, Intramar was wholly purchased by DAX (Domestic Air Express), after the transaction was approved by the US Government on 18 June 1969.
