Operator History

Skycoach Express was a network of agencies founded by Capt. Irving E. Hermann and his wife. That network sold airline tickets while the flights were operated by other entities also belonging to the Hermanns, such as Monarch, Great Lakes and Currey. All airplanes, mainly Commandos and Douglas DC4s, bore Skycoach titles. The flights mainly took place between the cities of Los Angeles, CA, San Francisco, CA, Reno, NV and New York, NY. Eventually, the scheme was deemed to be an illegal combine operation offering scheduled passenger flights to the public, and the entire operation was shut down by the Civil Aeronautics Board in the mid-1950's.
