Operator History

Trans Arctic Air seems to have started operations using a small fleet of Commando freighters in June 1969. These airplanes were soon joined by three Lockheed Electras.

Trans Arctic operated at least five Commandos, including two ex-Flying W Airways aircraft which it sold 2 years later to Aerolineas Argo in the Dominican Republic.

One of these airplanes, N9883F, received major damage landing at Saguan, AK on 18 April 1970.
