Operator History

The Flight Check Squadron is a unit of the JASDF Air Support Command used for navaid calibration. It was initially based at Iruma AB, north of Tokyo, but moved to Kisarazu AB in the Tokyo Bay on 1 June 1959. The squadron moved back to Iruma AB on 31 May 1968 and had beed based there to this day. Throughout the years, it operated Commandos, Mitsubishi MU2, NAMC YS-11, U-125 Hawker and Cessna 680A Latitude.

The Flight Check Squadron operated five Commandos. All of them wore a distinctive red & white checkerboard on the tail.
