Operator History

The 37th TCS was formed in July 1942 from the redesignation of the 37th Transport Squadron constituted five months earlier. It belonged to the 316th Troop Carrier Group during all of its existence, and its history matched that of the group (which see). Aircraft of the 37th TCS wore designation W7 on the nose.

The Squadron briefly operated Commandos in the immediate post-war period, while its Group was part of the 3rd Air Force, operating under the Continental Air Command.
