It later progressed into New Guinea, to the Philippines and finally Japan.
The Squadron relocated in November 1948 to Germany with the 317th Group, and then to France in 1957, before returning to the USA in 1964. From there, it took part in the Dominican Republic Civil War in 1965 before being redesignated 40th Tactical Airlift Squadron on 1 May 1967.
