Operator History
The 49th TCS was formed in July 1942 from the redesignation of the 49th Transport Squadron constituted a month earlier. It belonged to the 313th Troop Carrier Group during all of its existence, and its history matched that of the group (which see). Aircraft of the 49th TCS wore designation H2 on the nose.
