Al Ghezzi

Description

Al Ghezzi was an Alaskan transport tycoon during the post-war years. His company, Alaskan Freight Lines, held contracts with the US Army to supply bases located in the interior. During the construction of the DEW (Distant Early Warning) line in the far north, Ghezzi invested in giant all-terrain road trains built by inventor Robert LeTourneau to serve these radar stations. However, in the winter of 1956, one of the road trains was wrecked in an accident, and Alaska Freight Lines went out of business.

Ghezzi was involved in other means of transportation, including Alaska Shipping Lines which operated barges to supply Valdez, AK from Seattle, WA. Always looking for innovative transportation solutions, it seems the Ghezzi also operated airplanes, including Commandos.
