Operator History
Los Hermanos Sebastian y Gomez was a CIA front company in Panama which supported the agency's work against the Castro regime in Cuba. Los Hermanos effectively owned all Fuerza Aerea de Liberacion aircraft, mainly Commandos, Douglas C-54 Skymasters and Douglas B-26 Invaders. Cuban pilots were trained by US instructors, many detached from Air America. The initial base was Retalhuleu, Guatemala, but the force moved to Puerto Cabezas, Nicaragua in March 1961.
Missions to Cuba included providing supplies to anti-Castro guerillas and dropping propaganda leaflets over the island. On 17-19 April 1961, Los Hermanos provided the backbone of air support during Operation Pluto, the failed Bay of Pigs invasion. Fuerza Aerea de Liberacion operations wound down after that, but did not come to a stop, with continued activity noted until at least 1964.
