Harry M. Koch and Jacques Bachmann were two business partners who wanted to start an airline. After failing to launch Midland Airlines in the mid 1950's, they founded Aeropa Fluggesellschaft SA in Basel on 3 June 1957. By the summer of 1958, the airline was ready to start operations with a small fleet of leased Commandos, but somehow this never happened.

Aeropa leased at least one Commando from L. B. Smith Aircraft Corporation.
