Operator History
Aero Exchange was a Florida broker established in 1964 by John Petersen, also the Technical Director of Air Haiti. Petersen held 58% of Aero Exchange shares, with the rest shared between several Air Haiti managers.
On 26 March 1981, Petersen applied for a permit to conduct domestic and international cargo charter flights under the business name Pan Aero International. The permit was granted on 29 September by the CAB, on the condition that all nominated Pan Aero management personnel currently employed by Air Haiti leave the latter airline once Pan Aero operations would start. The business plan was centered are the operation of 3 Boeing 707s leased from Guinness Peat, Ireland to conduct transatlantic, transpacific and Caribbean operations. Apparently, Pan Aero ended up adding other aircraft to its fleet, including Douglas DC8s, Lockheed 188 Electras and Commandos.
The fate of Aero Exchange and Pan Aero International is unknown.
