Operator History
The 1st Combat Cargo Squadron was one of the 1st Combat Cargo Group's four squadrons during World War II. It served in the China-Burma-India theatre where it transported personnel and supplies, primarily to forward areas, and evacuated casualties. Between September and October 1944, a detachment operated from Yunnanyi, Yunnan, China, and between March and July 1945 a detachment operated from Liangshan in the Chungking area. While being primarily a C-47 Skytrain squadron, the squadron converted partially to the Commando from June 1945. These were used for transporting men, food, arms, and ammunition until the end of the war.
After V-J Day, as the 1st Combat Cargo Group was redesignated 512th Troop Carrier Group, the squadron became the 326th Troop Carrier Squadron on 19 September 1945. It was inactivated on 26 December 1945.
