Operator History
The 11th Combat Cargo Squadron was one of the 3rd Combat Cargo Group's four squadrons during World War II. It served in the China-Burma-India theatre where it transported personnel and supplies, primarily to forward areas, and evacuated casualties. Between June and July 1944, a detachment operated from Sookerating, Assam, India. While being initially a C-47 Skytrain squadron, the squadron converted to the Commando from 1945. These were used for transporting men, food, arms, and ammunition until the end of the war.
After V-J Day, as the 3rd Combat Cargo Group was redesignated 513th Troop Carrier Group, the squadron became the 332nd Troop Carrier Squadron on 29 September 1945. It airlifted Chinese troops to Eastern China to perform disarmament operations until December 1945. Then, from January 1946, It ensured transportation for General Marshall’s Executive Headquarters (State Department agency), which was attempting to resolve the dispute between the Nationalist and Communist forces in China. The Squadron was inactivated on 10 April 1947.
