Operator History

The Oklahoma City Air Materiel Area (OCAMA) started off as the Midwest Air Depot back in 1941. It was one of the largest units of the Air Force Air Materiel Command.

Commando Operations

1948 to December 1954*

Many obsolete Commandos (ZC-46A) recalled to service in 1947-1948 were stripped of parts and broken up at the Oklahoma City Air Materiel Area. Others were taken from the RFC and refurbished around that time, and sent to various Troop Carrier or Reserve units.
