Operator History
The 64th Troop Carrier Squadron operated in the South Pacific with Douglas C-47 Skytrains and Commandos during World War II, mainly as part of the 433rd Troop Carrier Group.
On 9 August 1947, the unit was reactivated in the reserve at Richmond AAB, VA. It was assigned to the 403rd Troop Carrier Group, Medium and operated only the Commando. From 1952, the squadron converted to C-119's and the Commandos were retired. In April 1952, the 64th moved to Japan for operations against communist forces in Korea, but there were probably no Commandos left in the squadron by that time.
