Between September and October 1944, a detachment operated from Yunnanyi, Yunnan, China. While being primarily a C-47 Skytrain squadron, it did also operate a few Commandos. The 3rd CCS received a Distinguished Unit Citation for transporting supplies, equipment, and personnel in French Indochina, China, and Manchuria in September 1945.
