Operator History
The 315th Troop Carrier Group, Medium was redesignated on 23 May 1952 and reactivated on 10 June 1952 as the follower of a group that operated Douglas C-47 Skytrains and Commandos in Europe during World War II. The Group was assigned to the US Far East Air Forces and took an active part in the Korean War with its fleet of Commandos. It airlifted troops and cargo and flew leaflet drops, spray, air evacuation, and search & rescue missions in that theater. The 315th remained in the Far East after the war to fly transport missions and paratroop training flights in Japan, Korea, South Vietnam and other points until December 1954. The Group was deactivated on 18 January 1955.
The 315th Troop Carrier Group, Medium was composed of the following squadrons:

- 34th Troop Carrier Squadron, Medium
- 43rd Troop Carrier Squadron, Medium
- 344th Troop Carrier Squadron, Medium
