War Assets Administration
Operator History
The WAA was one of several US Government administrations established post-war to manage the surplus military materiel of US Armed Forces after the conflict. It started in the Office for Emergency Management, effective 25 March 1946, and essentially offered all kinds of military surplus materiel for sale as scrap. The WAA was abolished by the Federal Property and Administrative Services Act of 30 June 1949, and was replaced in its liquidator role by the General Services Administration.
