Operator History
LIDCA was a cargo airline established in the city of Barranquilla in 1953. Its capital was composed of Alfonso Rueda Arias with 37.7%, as Manager, Jose Vicente Torres with 31.2% and who served as Deputy Manager, Nestor Vargas Escobar with 13.5%, Octavio Osorio and a group of minority shareholders for a total of 183,600 pesos. LIDCA temporarily operated Commando HK-459, which suffered a mishap in Barranquilla on 29 December 1954 and Commando HK-489 that was subsequently sold to Texaco Colombia. By 1956 it had two Commandos, HK-494 and HK-829. LIDCA later acquired two Fairchild C-82 Packet, with a 7.5-ton cargo capacity. These airplanes not only offered a greater payload, they were ablo to carry any type of voluminous load including automobiles. Subsequently, on 5 June 1956, a third Commando, HK-851, was purchased and sold to the company Aerocondor. LIDCA had offices in the cities of Barranquilla, Cartagena, Medellín and Bogota. It specialized in the domestic transport of cattle and had the opportunity to make several special flights to Panama and Miami, FL. LIDCA was liquidated in 1957.
